Mars Direct: Slowly But Surely, A Bear Coming out of Hibernation

It's been 7 days now since Mars has re-gained its foreward momentum in the sign of Leo, however things are still slow going. I see Mars going direct, or any planet for that matter, like a bear coming out of hibernation. The planet may move a little like molasses as it first regains its direct motion, up until the time it clears its retrograde zone. Anything waking up from going inward is going to take some time to feel stable again as it moves outwardly. Given that we are dealing with Mars, which is a very dynamic, outward energy, we are still likely to feel some of that frustration, irritability, and depression that we were feeling when he was retrograde, when his energy was really being thwarted. It will be like a steady and slow process of building momentum from now until May 17th, when Mars leaves its retrograde zone. This is a good thing, even though it may not feel so good to us, as the Mars energy in all of us wants things to start moving already. Mars energy is hot, quick and impulsive. It is for the best that he takes things slowly as he picks up his momentum again. We don't want to do anything rash and impulsive, unchecked and unrestrained. The right moment will come eventually. He will clear his retrograde May 17th, and dont forget the Jupiter - Uranus conjunction in Aries on starting June 8th. Talk about full steam ahead!! I would say enjoy the slow period now while you can, because things will surely be moving mid May into June.

It is likely that we are all feeling inner the stirrings of our new beginnings, and that foreward thrust to get us there as Mars goes direct, but he is not quite there yet, so try and be as patient as you can. March is definitely a month where we all may be feeling the "Are We There Yet" slow going energy. Mercury and the Sun both move into Aries, Mars' home sign, but they will meet up with Saturn and Pluto. Saturn restricts things, so that energy of Aries will yet again feel slowed down, depressive and resticted in some way. Pluto may make things feel a little heavy and morbid as well, but "This Too Shall Pass". After clearing the T-square zone, Mercury and the Sun are then both free to roam along with Venus in Aries.

Right now, Patience is most definitely a virtue!

Piscean Ponderings

Some questions to ask yourself as the planets make their way through the waters of Pisces

What cycles are you wrapping up right now?
What are you completing?
What things are ending for you? Behaviors? Relationships? Ways of being?
What wounds or self undoing behaviors are you letting go of?
What are you doing to merge with Spirit, the creative force of the Universe?
What are you being urged to redeem in your life and in yourself?
What lessons have you learned and hopefully integrated up until now?
What insights have you gained from all of your past experiences?
Are you listening to your intuition? Are you scheduling time to get quiet and listen to it?
Are you surrenduring to things that cannot be changed? Are you making peace with life?
Are you allowing yourself to become inspired by your dreams and wishes? Can you dream a little dream?
What are you deceiving yourself about, and how can you get real about it?

The current planetary phase that we are in urges us to ponder these questions. Right now we are all being asked to "clear the decks" for a brand new cycle, as several planets will make their way into Aries. Pisces is all about completions and endings, a time to review the past and integrate all experience, letting go of what is no longer useful and keeping what is. Aries energy is Spring energy, like a birth and renewal, but we must wade through the murky Piscean waters first.

Pisces Dominates: In a State of Suspended Animation

With 5 planets currently transiting Pisces, I feel like I have been in a state of suspended animation. Everything in my life feels nebulous, vague and undefined. I have no idea which way to go and what to do...and this has caused some anxiety and feelings of being ungrounded (so typical of Pisces). All of this Piscean energy is asking me to flow with the larger plan, to relax into GODS hands and just trust. Having a lot of Virgo energy myself, this is a difficult task, nonetheless it is teaching me a very valuable lesson. Things manifest in their own good time, and sometimes you just have to put your will aside for a WILL greater than ours. Virgo's (like me) like certainty, order and structure, so this Pisces party has me a feeling a little insecure to say the least. Confusion reigns supreme.

I have been trying earnestly with these planets in Pisces to cultivate a more relaxed and meditative state of being. I am learning the value of acceptance and surrender to something larger than myself...perhaps a Universal Intelligence that orders our world. This is changing my perspective, and enabling me to integrate the Piscean polarity into my naturally Virgoan nature. Allowing and accepting things to be as they are is challenging, but is creating a greater connection to Spirit, where peace, calm and trust reside.

When we feel uncertain about our lives, when we are living in that state of suspended animation, its best to just not do anything, and to allow that uncertainty to just be there. Perhaps from accepting that uncertainty and just being present with it, and creating a space around it, the answer will eventually spring forth, from a higher knowing...from our intuition. In good time...the answers will come, and movement will proceed from the stillness.

The planets that are currently transiting through Pisces will naturally move into Aries. The stillness and contemplation that we cultivate in Pisces, will lead to action and movement in Aries. If we are willing to spend time listening to our intuition, if we are able to get quiet and still enough for that to happen, we can take our insights with us into Aries, where we go forward with our plans, renewed and refreshed.

For now, in honor of Pisces, Just Let It Be...

Surviving 2010: Coping with the Brunt of the Cardinal T-Square

Trying to understand and write about this ongoing t square is difficult given all of its astrological complexity, but in a nutshell, this cardinal t square seeks to instill radical, total and complete change in our lives (more intensely so if you have planets at the early cardinal signs: 0-3 degrees Libra, Capricorn, Cancer, Aries) It asks that we purge our old ways of doing things...business as usual dies. It wants us to build new structures in our lives, based on higher spiritual truths. The t square is bringing us more into alignment with our authentic selves, so we can take off the mask we have been wearing for some time. This is an intensified process of soul evolution. It certainly has been rough for many...it feels like we are being torn apart and re-structured, from the inside out.

The t square will be will be amping up its intensity as we move further into 2010. Knowing that we are all in this together, that this is a collective rebirth, may perhaps bring some comfort to those suffering through these changes. Understanding and awareness of what this process is about may help ease some of the fear and heaviness that we have all been feeling for a while now. Hopefully this explanation and break-down will bring some understanding and clarity to us all.

Key Players:

PLUTO
Pluto is a planet that purges. It brings up all the feelings, emotions, and truths that we would rather ignore and hide from. But through the purging, a clean slate emerges on which to re-write a better life and a better you. It clears away all the toxicity, all the old junk accumulated from past that gets in the way of us living our best life! Through dying to the old...we can birth something new and much better. Transformation requires a death and a birth. That's Pluto's job, and in early Capricorn we have all been getting real and responsible about purging our toxicities. It certainly is no fun, but life is not all fun all the time. It certainly has not been easy either, because this process requires brutal honesty and truth about things that no longer serve our best interest, and as a result we must let go of something(s). It it like a death (Pluto), because we have to let things die (Pluto) that were once a big part of our lives. For a lot of us, our nature is to "cling", as the familiar brings a sense of comfort and stability, whether its attitudes, behaviors, people, beliefs, etc. However, the evolution of our souls (which I think is the purpose of the t-square) requires us to step out of our old familiar comfort zones in order to birth something new, better, and healthier. Things in life don't stay the same, they never did and never will. That's the nature of the universe. To me, this t -square represents a very necessary evolutionary leap in consciousness, "sparked" by the healing of the collective heart (Libra). If we can come to terms with the necessity of change and embrace it, this process becomes a little easier to handle.

SATURN
From here, Saturn steps in. He brings us the gumption and the motivation to build newer and better structures in our lives. From the wreckage of the Plutonian purging and demolition process, we must rebuild. He squares Pluto from Libra, so relationships in our lives are certainly a big part of this transformational process, maybe even the core of it. We are either making some serious changes in our relationships or our relationships are changing us in a very big way. In any case, we are building new structures in some area of our lives and relationships are a theme somewhere in this process. We have to act with responsibility and with a certain level and awareness and maturity, with other and with ourselves. Again, life is not all fun and games. Certain times require hard work and dedication , and this is just one of those times. Don't forget, that Saturn rewards. If we are willing to stick it out, and put hard work into our relationships, and into the areas of life he is touching in our charts (get your chart on: www.astro.com), Saturn will reward us with things of quality, value and stability. We are all building something for our future, and Saturn wants us to get it right.

URANUS
Uranus comes along with Saturn to bring us new, inspirational, and exciting ideas, insights and opportunities that are in alignment with the expression of our higher truths, that we may have never considered. So, Uranus produces the new ideas and possibilities, and Saturn gives form and structure to these things, to make them real and manifest. These "new" things may come out of the blue, or through sudden flashes of insight. Regardless of the form these things take (Saturn's job), Uranus makes our life more authentic and true. The higher purpose of Uranus is not change for the sake of change, but change that more deeply reflects the authenticity of who we are, and a change within ourselves and the circumstances in our lives that frees our spirits. We cannot continue with our old, outworn ways (Saturn), living a lie...we must live our truths, based on a higher order that is in alignment with Gods truth. With Uranus expressing his energy in Pisces (Spiritual truths/Higher self/Inspiration, Intuition) and Aries (the self/expression of the will/individuality), we will all have the opportunity to do just that. This cardinal square will require us to develop a certain level of spiritual maturity. Uranus can cause chaos in our lives if we do not take the time to develop the art of listening to our intuition and create a quiet and contemplative space to hear the directives from our higher selves. Thankfully, Saturn in opposition can help to ground these directives into the real world, so that we can manifest them into or lives...into reality. This is where we make our "dreams" and higher aspirations (Uranus in Pisces) a reality (Saturn).

What to do?

1. Incorporate spirituality into your life - to seek higher guidance and comfort.

2. Engage in grounding activities.

3. Look at this time as a challenge towards betterment and growth...embrace the challenge and flow with the changes (learn to embrace change). We really don't want to resist this process, as change will be enforced no matter how much resistance we put out.

4. Learn to have fun and laugh. This is some heavy, intense and serious energy, which needs to be balanced with some optimism and positivity. See the job and do it (everyone has got one now)...but also make time for play.

5. Take time to nurture yourself...this is a very difficult process, so go easy on yourself and others.

6. Try and bond with others...we all need comfort and love from one another right now.

7. Give yourself the space and time to grieve the things that are falling away and leaving your life. Also, take the time to celebrate the new structures you are building for yourself, from a place of hope trust, and faith.

8. BREATHE...............

As scary and uncomfortable as change may be, the universe is screaming out for it (via Saturn, Uranus and Pluto), so we all may as well get comfortable with it. If change is inevitable, we may as well learn to enjoy the ride.

New Moon in Pisces: Dream a New Dream, But Watch out for the Snags!

The new Moon in Pisces is asking for us to dream a NEW dream, filled with inspiration and hope. Uranus and Mercury conjuncting this new moon will bring exciting ah-ha moments...brilliant and foreward thinking ideas, that will shake us out of our ruts and create fresh and new ways of doing things. These new ideas and new ways of doing things may come as a shock to us, but they will be in our best interest, and will move us foreward, in the right direction. Mars in Leo, now in foreward motion, will trine this New Moon, lending a dynamic energy to move ahead with our new and inspired ideas and plans. Saturn in Libra, opposing this New Moon will bring a more serious and responsible feel. Any new endeavors that we start now may put a strain on our relationships, or our relationships may put stress (block) on our (as it is in opposition) new initiatives in some way. Saturn may also help ground our new ideas and plans into concrete manifestation. If anything, it will make us stop and consider the practical side of things...it will not let us forget our responsibilities as we dream away in Pisces land. In any case, with this New Moon, we will all be dreaming a new and inspired dream and working to make it come true...hopefully.

This process will not be without its difficulties however. As the Moon, Sun and Mercury depart from the New Moon position at 25 degrees Pisces, they will stumble into the Cardinal T-square territory, and dance with Pluto and Saturn, in a square and opposition respectively. This spells tension and stress! Our idealistic Piscean bubbles may burst as these planets get caught up with the Cardinal players.

Mercury represents the mind, ideas, and communication. When this squares Pluto and opposes Saturn, our new begninnings will become complicated and heavy. Our thoughts and communications may become serious, paranoid, depressed, intense, and some ugly truths may come spilling out. The Sun, which represents our will, purpose and sense of "being" may also feel this stressful intensity.

Our new beginnings may not be such a smooth ride, but things that come too easy in life usually lack character and solidity (2 things that Saturn and Pluto can provide). Anything that we initiate at this New Moon will be tested, and tested again.

Pisces and Uranus can provide the dreamy and inspired goals, and Saturn and Pluto will be there to ensure that anything we start will stand the test of time.

Need Help with the T-Square?

Many of us have been feeling immense stress and pressure with the Saturn-Pluto Square, especially right now, as the aspect is exact at 4 degrees Libra and Capricorn. If that isn't enough, Uranus starts creeping in to join them in the late spring onwards, making it a Cardinal T-Square. The T-Square, falling in the Cardinal signs demands action, radical (Uranus) change and new beginnings. This aspect creates stress as a catalyst for change, and many people have been going through some very stressful times, especially those that have planets at the early Cardinal degrees. If you are feeling this...know that you are not alone. This is like a collective soul evolution.

For those of you who are interested, there will be several websites hosting a Blogathon from March 19th -21st that will be featuring articles geared towards coping with the Cardinal T-Square. If you are feeling the grind, you may want to consider checking out this special online event.

Saturn in Libra: Relating Gets a Serious and Radical Make-Over

I thought the image that goes with this post very aptly portrays the feeling of the grinding Saturn/Pluto square that has been in effect for a while now. At least this is how I have been feeling, but from what I hear, others are feeling the same.

Because Saturn is trudging through Libra, relationships of all kinds are most certainly highlighted, as Libra rules relationships. Saturn is about being responsible, working hard, putting forth effort, making things right, and getting real. He's is the Grand Taskmaster. Saturn in Libra demands that once and for all, we take responsibility for and get real about our relationships and the ways in which we relate...and he is one tough cookie. He's like a big mean guy, sitting on our shoulders, shaking his finger at us, letting us know what is not right, and belligerently stating what needs to be fixed. No picnic, but no one ever said life was. If we want quality, we've got to be willing to work for it and with Pluto In Capricorn (again, hard work and taking responsibility) squaring Saturn in Libra, we are going to be forced to work on (and transform) our relationships...like it or not! Old, toxic structures, beliefs, and values we hold regarding relationships and relating will be purged (Pluto)...they will crumble, along with relationships themselves (in some cases). Unhealthy patterns will be eliminated and wiped away, Pluto will make sure of it, and not in a pretty way either (nothing is pretty about these 2 planets), as Saturn and Pluto are in a square formation, which signifies tension and stress. And while its not pretty, its necessary. Good things in life just don't come for free. If we want to improve our relationships and heal our wounded hearts (Venus/Libra), we have got to do the work required of us. However, humans have a funny way of being complacent, and change only when the bough is about to break. This is the ultimate purpose of this square (later to become the Cardinal T- Square), to create stress in order to bring about change...to light a fire under our butts, if you will. The square in the Cardinal signs, and at the early degrees says change is needed, and ensures that change will happen. We will change deeply, at a core level, and so will our relationships.

Pluto is squaring Saturn in Libra, and is here to shed some light on our old, outworn, and toxic relationship patterns. If we are partnered to the wrong person, this will become blatant. If we are lacking in self love, this will become blatant. If we give too much and don't receive enough, this will become blatant. You can expect any and all types of relationship issues and issues that have to do with love (as Venus rules Libra) to come out into the open with this aspect. Pluto loves to dig deep and uncover things that have been hiding out in the corners of our unconscious, and not in the prettiest of ways either (especially with a square formation), but there is no other way to heal, is there? In order to heal, we have got to feel, and that takes conscious awareness of our issues and dysfunctions. A lot of emotional purging will occur, with our fears, wounds and unconscious issues coming to into our awareness, because this is what Pluto does. Thankfully, Saturn in Libra will afford us the opportunity and give us the gumption to build new and more sound structures in the area of relating, after the plutonian purging.

Why is all of this happening now you may be asking. This square (soon to be the T-Square) is ushering in a much needed evolutionary leap in consciousness, both personal and collective. If you take a long, hard look at the state of the world, you would see that a shift in consciousness is desperately needed at this time if we are to survive and thrive as a species. These planetary energies are changing us at a core level, slowly but surely. Because Saturn is in Libra, our relationships (Libra) are creating the backdrop through which this change in consciousness is happening. It goes something like this; either we are being changed directly by our relationships or stress in some other area of our lives (look at the house where Pluto is transiting in your chart) is changing our relationships. The entirety of this process is causing a personal and collective soul evolution, and shift in our love consciousness and our hearts. As an example, look at what is happening within the United States government at this time. We are divided completely between the democrats and republicans...a truce almost seems hopeless right now. This partisanship is causing significant stressors within our country, and creating divisiveness that has many negative implications. This very important "relationship" is becoming the catalyst for a change and transformation in the way this government operates, and the way this country operates as a whole. We must find a way to get along, to heal this great divide. A healing and transformation must occur, personally and collectively, these planets are demanding it!

We cannot question the cosmic timing of this square, we can only go along with it, and realize that change is a very necessary part of life. Humans do not like change (especially of the Saturn/Pluto variety), because many times change is painful, especially where relationships are concerned. Loss is painful, and many are experiencing this right now. Saturn demands realism, hard work, and responsibility (in relationships)...and that is no picnic. We are transforming and evolving, independently and as a whole species, and the process of transformation can be difficult and unnerving at times. Knowing that we are all in this together may take some of the sting out of this very intense experience.

Starting in the late spring, Uranus, the planet of awakening and radical change will join in this existing Saturn/Pluto square and create a t-square formation. This will start the process of radical (Uranus) change and transformation, personally and collectively. The Uranus archetype is the "Radical". Uranus will cause a "quickening", and really speed up this whole process of change. Its like the existing Saturn/Pluto square will receive a cosmic kick in the pants, so to speak. Change will come about swiftly, and abruptly. Sudden realizations are likely to overcome us, and cause us to make much needed changes that are long over due. Saturn and Pluto have been working on us for a while now. By this time, we all know what needs to be changed and transformed in our lives. Uranus will step in and give us the means to make those changes. He is revolutionary...he brings us fresh new ideas and insights. Our lives will receive a big jolt of energy and thrust us into taking action, to create new beginnings (Cardinal)...much needed and long awaited ! And yes, this will most certainly affect our relationships, as he will be in the sign of Aries, eventually opposing Saturn in Libra (relationships).

Ok, so what to do with this planetary conundrum and how to handle all of this change? Here are some things you may want to consider to make this process go a little smoother:

1. Making a serious assessment of our current one on one relationships, and eliminating any and all unhealthy patterns that we have been carrying around. It may be necessary to schedule alone time in order to re-asses and meditate on how we relate to others in unhealthy ways and how others relate to us, and make necessary changes to better our lives.

2. Realizing and coming to terms with the fact that change is a necessary part of our human existence. All things evolve and change, if they didn't, we could not make any progress or move into healthier states of being. Embracing the idea of change right now, especially within our relationships is essential if we are to go with the flow of these planetary energies. Here is an article on dealing with change: http://www.naturallysavvy.com/inspiration-and-motivation/embracing-change

3. Cultivate compassion and understanding. We are going through a difficult transformation and transition period, and that process must be respected. We must be gentle and compassionate with ourselves and our loved ones right now. A lot is being changed, eliminated and reconfigured with regards to ourselves and our relationships.

4. Fortify your body, mind and spirit. Change is hard, especially when it is forced upon us, so we must work to cultivate strength at our core selves, especially ones who are more sensitive. Physically, this includes eating right, getting quality rest and exercise. Mentally, this means cultivating a positive mental outlook on life and seeing change as a good thing. Spiritually, we all need to be engaging in a spiritual practice that fits our spiritual belief system, that inspires and uplifts us in this time of change.

5. Learning to let go. We cannot always know, with our small minds, what is best for us. There is a greater cosmic force at work out there, that can see much more than our limited vision. When we are open to other possibilities for our lives, letting go becomes easier. The reality is that sometimes our current situation is not the best for us, and the universe steps in and brings us something else, something better. The more we resist, the more pain we experience. Try and let go of things that just aren't serving you anymore (they are going to be taken away anyway with Saturn/Pluto), as hard as it may be.

6. Release emotions. With Pluto involved in the square, we will be purging and letting go of a lot (people, beliefs, behaviors, attitides and the resulting emotions from loss). Emotions, like clouds, are fleeting and transient, they pass as quickly as they came in. This time has been very emotional for many, and holding emotions in is just not healthy, nor is attaching to and magnifying them. Remember, to maintain emotional balance and health, let them just pass like clouds... feel and let go.
